Tips on Surviving Your First Year in Seminary


If you are currently in seminary, have a look at these words of advice I’ve found online:

  1. Exercise. Sleep well. Eat well
  2. Take a 15-minute study break every 2 hours.
  3. Take a speed reading course.
  4. Give the Lord your best time.
  5. Make time for family and friends—in and out of seminary.
  6. Make a schedule for completing the semester’s assignments, and follow it.
  7. Find a ministry that uses your gifts.
  8. Find a mentor to guide you through this time.
  9. Attend social activities.
  10. Be on time for classes. Don’t miss often.
  11. Ask for help when you need it.
  12. Back-up your computer work.
  13. Keep your email address updated through the Student Information Page.
  14. Read Kerygma to stay with with announcements!
  15. Visit our friends at Going to Seminary for more advice and insight into surviving seminary.
