No sports marketing and management majors are in the education department. That would not make any sense. I'm a sports marketing major, and I am positive it is in the business department here and at every other university. NMSU, UT, Baylor, any university with a sports marketing and management major. Marketing and Management have to do with business, and nothing to do with education, except you get educated about them.

Case Management! star looking to get some experience now. I work for the state and they have a lot of opening in areas like this, but you need to start getting some experience under your belt. Volunteer or work part time.

No offense, but your best bet would be to come up to Las Vegas, and go to UNLV... We have a really good hotel and business management school... and being a largely hotel/casino/restaurant industry city, you will most definitly have a job out of college.... It's not that far away from California... and you'd be where the "market" for such a job is...

Check out UNLV's website... And I wish you the best...

At most properties, the Guest Services Manager (aka Front Desk Manager) is an experienced employee who probably does not have a 4-year degree but may. It's not required for the position at most properties but may be at the largest/premiere properties.

Experience on the desk and then as an Asst GS Mngr. will be required for advancement. It's usually 2-5 years experience as the preferred range.

Related, but not the same, is the Front Office Manager who also often comes from front desk staff but more often has a 4-year degree because of the financial/accounting nature of that position.

People with a bachelor's degree in hotel management often start as asst general manager (AGM) and work upward from there. Some start in the administrative roles such as group sales, revenue, or front office manager.

Those with a bachelor's degree in other fields can often advance through the ranks much faster than those with only experience. Experience on the front desk is helpful and often essential in those cases.
